Adventure Nursery Sneak Peek!

Happy FRIDAY, peeps! I think Friday is a great day for a…. MINI REVEAL!!! Now listen here, our nursery isn’t 100% done, but we have tons of decor up, lots of furniture in place, and I think it’s a good time for a little sneak peek!

We’ve made a ton of progress on our adventure nursery over the last 6 weeks, including…

  • Installing crown molding
  • DIY-ing lots of decor AND hanging it on the wall
  • Ordering the rocker and super-soft, plush rug
  • Sewing our own valences

K, ya ready??

Eeeeeeee!!! It’s coming together! You might remember from my nursery planning post that I decided to go with an adventure theme for our nursery. When weΒ found out we were having a boyΒ and I may have gone a little overboard with the boy decor… But regardless, I still think it’ll be easy to make it girly if we have a girl in the future!

Anyway, the room we chose for the nursery has easily gone from my least favorite room in the house to my most favorite! We used to call it that “cat room,” because when we moved in…well… you can guess. Or read this post. BUT, we got new carpet, a fresh coat of paint, and lots of cleaning and it is been given new life!

The Valances… A proud moment!

I am NOT a seamstress, but my lovely mama can always seem to whip something up! She helped me make the valances for the nursery and I’m so pleased with how they turned out! A nice touch of color without looking too 1990’s. I found the fabric here on Spoonflower.

I’m also really pleased with the rocker we bought here on Wayfair. It’s a little firm, but I think that will be preferable when we have to stand up with a newborn babe in our arms!

Plus, how adorable are the chevron arrows?? We made those ourselves, too! Check out the full tutorial here. I love how the throw pillow (from the Rise and Renovate Etsy shop) ties them in!

The Book Wall

Between the main door and the closet door, there’s just enough space for a cute little book wall! I found something similar on Pinterest and came across these shelves at IKEA for about $7 each – total steal! I topped it off by painting a piece of reclaimed barn wood at the top to tie in the adventure theme.

Alright, those are all the updates I have for you thus far! Still on our to-do list is…

  1. Finding or making a footstool for the rocker
  2. Finding a side table to go next to the rocker
  3. Decorating the walk-in closet/changing room
  4. Stocking the nursery with baby supplies
  5. Finding storage for baby supplies
  6. Have a baby. πŸ™‚
